A genuine SRP design includes a tear-away or perforated opening that converts the shipping case directly into a display tray.
Why does this matter to a retailer specifically? Labour cost and shelf compliance. Retailers increasingly favour suppliers whose packaging is authentically shelf-ready over those who only describe it that way, since unpacking stock unit by unit takes measurably longer across a busy store. What happens if packaging fails an SRP standard? Non-compliant packaging is a common cause of retailer chargebacks, a cost that catches smaller manufacturers off guard when pitching into a chain for the first time. Confirming SRP compliance before a first order, not after a rejected delivery, avoids this entirely.
Most retail packaging pages describe finishes and branding first and treat shelf performance as an afterthought. That order causes real problems.
