Printing, Logo and Colour: How Do You Avoid Boxes That Don't Match Your Design?

The most common complaint from beauty brands is colour. The box arrives darker than the artwork, and by then the whole run is printed. Three habits prevent it: use Pantone matching for brand colours, use CMYK only for full-colour artwork, and approve a physical sample rather than a screen proof.

Printed cosmetic boxes offer matte lamination (hides fingerprints), gloss, soft-touch, foil, embossing, spot UV and window cut-outs. Use a fitted insert, a shipping-grade outer, and a box sized tightly, because couriers charge for oversized parcels. Labelling. Many UK cosmetics need INCI ingredient names and a PAO (period after opening) symbol. Leave room for them at design stage. Your regulatory adviser confirms what applies to your formula.

Sustainability. Recyclable paperboard or kraft, right-sized boxes, and fewer mixed materials. FSC board is available on request.

What Does It Cost, and What Should You Ask a Supplier First?

Cost depends on size, material, quantity, print, finish, inserts and structure. Quotes jump when the spec is incomplete, so write one specification sheet per SKU: dimensions, material, finish, colours, logo method and quantity.
